Ingredients

For the Fritters
  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced Use Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for best flavor.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • Cooking spray For air frying

Method

Preparation
  1. Peel, core, and dice the apples into small chunks. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, beat the egg and then whisk in the milk to create a wet mixture.
  4. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay!
  5. Fold in the diced apples gently until they are evenly distributed in the batter.
  6. Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for about 3-5 minutes.
  7. Using a spoon or small ice cream scoop, drop spoonfuls of the batter into the air fryer basket, making sure to leave space between each fritter.
Cooking
  1. Spray the fritters lightly with cooking spray and air fry them for about 10-12 minutes until golden brown and cooked through, turning them halfway for even cooking.
Serving
  1. Once cooked, remove the fritters from the air fryer and allow them to cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with caramel sauce before serving.

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream or a side of crispy bacon. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in the air fryer for about 3-5 minutes.
