  • 2 large apples, peeled and diced Opt for sweet-tart varieties like Honeycrisp or Granny Smith.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • to taste powdered sugar for dusting

Preparation
  1. Start by peeling and dicing your apples into small pieces.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and sugar until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the egg and then add the milk and melted butter. Mix until well combined.
  4. Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Then fold in the diced apples.
  5. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (180°C) for about 5 minutes while you prepare the fritters.
  6. Using a spoon or your hands, form small patties or mounds of the batter.
Cooking
  1. Place the fritters in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring not to overcrowd them.
  2. Air fry for about 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through until they are golden brown.
Serving
  1. Once cooked, remove them from the air fryer and dust with powdered sugar while they’re still warm.

Notes

These fritters pair well with warm maple syrup, whipped cream, or spiced cider. For crispy results, reheat leftovers in the air fryer.
